2 weeks to go.
Tuesday 7th November saw eight people meeting in St Clements Church, Templemore Avenue, Belfast for Food, fun and a briefing in preparation for their mission trip to Cambodia in two weeks’ time. Lots of bin liners full of crafts and gifts were lined up to be taken home and put into suitcases, 8 suitcases full of school bags also waiting for each team member to pick up and add to their luggage, which all added to the excitement.
After food, Anna from Willowfield Parish arrived to teach the team actions to the worship kids songs. We all laughed at our antics but learned a lot too. Practice will make perfect, so lots of at home practice will see perfection by the time we do it for real in Cambodia.
Next Adam Fetherstonhaugh talked about the history and culture of the country which everyone found insightful and interesting.
The preparation talk was about going through travel arrangements and the schedule, explaining what is expected. Somehow it all feels real once we start talking about meeting time for the airport. It has been a long two years of fundraising to get to this point, now it’s just waiting for the day to arrive. There is a very busy schedule for the team to work through once there, but they will have a long journey home to rest and catch up on their sleep.
Lastly the team put craft packs together, lots of wool and paper plates which will enable the children to make paper octopus.
We left excited and just wanting to go and serve God and those whose paths we cross. Next Sunday 19th November at Willowfield Parish Church, My Lady’s’ Road, Belfast, will see the team being commissioned and then the count-down to Friday 24th November begins. We will be posting up a schedule of the team’s activities and we hope that you will pray for them each day. We will also update you with a blog as often as we can on prayer points etc while we are there.
Blessings
