This morning we were privileged to go along to a Christian charity called the Sunshine Club. We were able to spend time with the children, we sang songs, told them the story of Jonah and the whale, played games, did crafts and even managed some face painting! The children were so happy and well cared for. The team there are doing a wonderful job, they were full of the joy of the Lord and it was a blessing to see Gods love being shown in a practical way.
After lunch, we went to a village where there is nothing for the children.
The people there moved from the slums in the city out to this village. Many are drug addicts and others have tried to commit suicide because of gambling debts. This makes the children very vulnerable to being exploited or trafficked.
There already is a church building available, but they have no one to run a facility that the children desperately need. Perhaps God has plans for Eggshell Cambodia to start their first project there, who knows?
Tonight, we went along the waterfront to eat. We’d promised a young girl that we’ve come to know that we’d come back on Tuesday night to buy some things from her. She goes around the restaurants selling scarfs, bags and bracelets. She didn’t come to where we were, so we walked along the front of the restaurants looking for her. We didn’t find her, but she knows about Jesus and we’ve prayed about her and I know God’s protection is over her. We walked as far as the KTV bars, it broke my heart seeing the young women there and middle aged western men wanting to buy them. It was a very dark place.
I don’t ever want to see the venerable children from this afternoon being sold into that way of life. They are too precious. We need to shine God’s light into this darkness. I know that bit by bit God’s light will break through, He has this.
If you haven’t already made a donation to Eggshell Cambodia or haven’t got around to setting up a standing order then please do what you can to help them help children like those we met this afternoon.
God bless, Gail x
