Thankfully the weather has cooled down again, and we are at normal temperatures of 33-36 degrees. Rain is threatening every day but so far nothing substantial. Everyone waits for rainy season and after two days of heavy rain we just want it to go away again. We are never happy!!!
As rainy season approaches, we ask you to pray for our children who live in homes that will flood, it is not a good time for them, wading through dirty water and sleeping on a pallet above the water. Many of them will live in these conditions for 6 months until the rains stop.
Day care babies are learning about animals and letters using crafts, e.g. “A is for Alligator”, (cutting out shapes of alligator using letter A and then gluing them together.) They enjoy this activity as well as teaching them how to use scissors safely, also how to glue things together without gluing themselves and everyone else. Our young babies are so good, the older boy is ready to walk he just needs encouragement, and he will be off, the younger just smiles and makes loud noises when he is not sleeping. One little girl has had quite a few accidents at home lately, she has a bad burn under her foot and came in with a large bump on her head and a bruise on her face. We are keeping a close eye on her to ensure these accidents do not continue to happen.
Our older children are missing Clare, they really enjoyed spending time with her. They got a new blue tooth speaker as the other one died and they are so happy. They love to dance and listen to the music, it is used a lot for exercise, worship, singing and dancing, so a new one was a must have.
The family we are feeding are continuing to need help. The little girl is starting to enjoy day care and is talking a little but very quietly. We are praying that the family get on their feet and no longer need our help. We are happy though that the other children in the house are able to go to school and don’t have to worry about their little sister.
I am coming to Northern Ireland in September, to speak at some churches and the Eggshell Cambodia AGM which is on Saturday morning 14th September (more details later) and to catch up with our family in Scotland. I look forward to seeing many of you and to updating our donors on how things are going.
Sokheng has really improved in crochet she made this dress for her niece; she is taking orders although size can be a little hit or miss.
I just recently finished a King Size blanket – NEVER AGAIN!
We had visitors from Singapore in day care this month who are opening a day care in the centre of Phnom Penh, they wanted to come and see how a good day care is run, it gives us great joy that they see our day care in this way.
A lovely story is of a recent giveaway to a family who was identified as in desperate need of food. We took rice and ingredients but they were out so we left them outside the shack for the mother’s return. The mother went to the village church on Sunday and gave a testimony. She had gone out that morning praying to Jesus because she had no food for herself and her children, when she came home there was 25kg of rice, she was so pleased that Jesus had answered her prayer. We have also heard of a lady in the village with two children. She has had her legs amputated and cannot work; we will give her rice etc as soon as we can.
Lastly, Sokheng’s niece is learning the song ”Jesus Loves Me”, she is not yet 3 years old, and loves to sing the song, her words are slightly different though, she is singing “Jesus is a doggie”.
Until next time.
