First on tthis month is to give you all the dates and times of my speaking engagements while in Northern Ireland in September:
June in Cambodia was to be the start of rainy season; we have had some rain but again (same as last year) not as much as we should have at this point. However, when it rains, it rains!
In contrast, in the North, flooding has damaged the growing rice and down here in Phnom Penh, we are suffering from high humidity.
In daycare, life goes on as usual, lots of mossies’, flies, mice, sick children, sick staff and sick us. Mark is being monitored for a high PSA level and Liz has been to Bangkok for an infusion which we are hoping will improve the symptoms of her Rheumatoid Arthritis.
We had a surprise last minute, a one-week visit from Craig which was lovely – spending time with him was a joy. What made us laugh was that everywhere we went, people were asking him if he was President Zelensky and is if he was single!
Kids in day care are fascinated by my watch – when they press the screen it shows them characters from Toy Story. It has got that when I am going to see them, I must take it off.
Children are still practicing for graduation, it takes a while with young children to get it together, but they will get there.
The Khmer like their comfort, this lady didn’t want to sit on the flatbed while traveling, so she put two plastic chairs on the flatbed and sat on them, I just love her furry hat in the 33 degrees heat.
I was also told that I was cute! Not something you often get when you are 64.
Bible Study continues to grow and the support they have for each other, means prayer time can be good but lengthy.
We continue our monthly food outreach supporting those who need help with providing for their families. We feel this outreach is so important in showing the love of Jesus to the people in the village in a practical way.
We have such wonderful Khmer names for things. There is a type of mango called Elephant Head – because it looks like an elephant of course!!
One of the staff was in the kitchen and I asked what she was cooking she said “Nom Sack Churo” which means pig snack, not sure I want to try it!
That’s all for now folks…
Until next month, God bless.
Mark & Liz
