We are back to work two weeks now and it seems a long time from we were in the UK. We enjoyed our time with our son Craig, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in Scotland, then catching up in Belfast with our other son Adam (who happened to be there for a few days before he headed back to Cambodia) spending time with our friends and family, before going on to Donegal and Sligo. We had some great laughs, good food, wonderful worship, and lovely memorable times. Our grandson graduated Nursery at the end of June and is ready for big school in a few weeks’ time; our granddaughter will start nursery – time ready doesn’t stand still.
The good news while we were in the UK Sokheng got her UK Visa so it is now all systems go. We fly out of Phnom Penh on Thursday 7th September. To help her get into the mood, we brought her back a Belfast T-shirt and a wee cup of coffee.
Since we came back, in day care we started another four children, a set of twin girls and two brothers. We now have 26 children which is enough for now. We are looking into a way of how we tell the girls apart as they are identical. We will let the staff work it out the Khmer way.
We also had a little boy who seemed to be in a lot of pain. We got him seen by doctors at a good hospital as the other one would not do the operation and within 4 days, he had surgery for a hernia repair and a circumcision. We are praying for a speedy recovery for him.
One of our graduated children whose family just move from one problem to another, lives close to day care. His father has had a stroke and cannot move. The is a young man in his late 30’s. We are doing what we can to support them with food packs and will pray for healing for him.
As I type this, Sokheng has just told me that 6 new people at Bible Study have just given their lives to Jesus! Praise God !!!
English class is now split into senior day care workers and junior. The seniors have more English comprehension, so I am taking them and pushing their knowledge forward, while Sokheng is back to basics with the others. The split seems to be working as they are all now on the same level of learning.
