The start of November saw our graduates start the local school. There was lots of excitement as they put on new uniforms, school bags and joined the others for their first day at big school.
We started four new children this month, all have been pretty good, not too much crying. We seem to have a lot of boys which is ok, but some girls would be nice. We still have a few places left to fill, perhaps we will get some girls to balance up the numbers.
We have had a child in hospital all of this month, he has a problem with his lungs and took a very bad lung infection which was hard for the doctors of fix. He returned to day care at the start of December, and we pray he will continue to mend.
The weather here has turned a little cooler and with the wind (the Khmer call November the windy month) it has been chilly.
Our older son (Adam), decided to treat Mark and I to a once in a lifetime trip to Japan. I always wanted to go but it is too far away to do for us from the Uk but not too far from Cambodia. It was a wonderful trip, and it did not disappoint us at all. We went to Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka. The trees were turning colour and were magnificent. We saw bonsai trees almost 900 years old, dressed in traditional dress and had a tea ceremony , saw Pandas, we went to many gardens and got to travel on the bullet train! We even experienced a small earthquake!! Ok, I am going to admit it, I did one of my Liz things. While in the Hiroshima museum, we were looking at some horrific pictures of the aftermath of the atomic bomb, I was standing beside Adam and began to rub his back (I know he is 35 but he is still one of my babies) and Mark looked at me and said “what are you doing”, I said “comforting Adam” and he said, Liz that is not Adam! The man’s wife didn’t look to pleased… It is a trip that we will never forget I don’t think the man’s wife will either!
Day care is gearing up for Christmas, the trees are up, and the children made decorations for them. We will go shopping in the next week to buy presents for the children and the staff are going for Christmas lunch to a karaoke restaurant for a BBQ and karaoke. We will have over 60 children at our Christmas party which is chaos but great to see all our past children as well as our present ones. A wonderful donor has given us money to buy the families of all 60+ children rice which for them is the best Christmas present they can receive.
All we have left to do now is wish you all a very Merry Christmas, we pray that in the midst of all the Christmas cheer, that Jesus will enter your home with his peace, joy and many blessings. For those who have lost someone this year or will spend Christmas alone, we pray Jesus will comfort you.
Back in January with the Christmas party chaos photos!
Until next time.
Blessings !
