Last month we reported that our son Adam had been admitted to the Royal Phnom Penh with what we thought was a kidney infection. It turned out that he had three abscesses in his liver. He was operated on and a drain put into the biggest abscess. The surgeon managed to drain the second one in theatre and the third was too deep to go deal with, so they are hoping that antibiotics will sort that one out. We praise God that after two weeks in hospital, we now have him home and he is now slowly on the mend. We cannot thank you enough for all your prayers!
Liz’s father was 96 on 1st April, he really wanted to reach that birthday and then went home to Jesus on 23rd April. We ask for continued prayer for us Liz and the whole family at this time of mourning.
On a lighter note, although we are closed again due to COVID, we did supply our families with food packs. While delivering the food, one of our children told our Operations Manager, Sokheng, that we were all being lazy in not bringing her to day care. Apparently, she has been laying out her uniform every morning in preparation and then gets angry when her grandfather tells her she is not able to go.
Due to a generous donation, we were also able to supply 85 x 10kg bags of rice to needy, hungry people within the city. These people walk the streets with their young children 18+ hours a day trying to sell shellfish or collect plastic bottles – they are desperately short on food and are struggling to earn enough money to feed themselves and their families. Thank you for helping us provide them with basic food.
In the midst of all this upheaval and uncertainty, we have some amazing news to share with you.
Watch out for an exciting email later this month…
Lastly, this could become a new trend is Northern Ireland, seen recently by us in Phnom Penh, a husky wearing pink eye-shadow. One of those, “we wish we’d got a photo, moments”; you’ll just have to use your imagination this time!
Until next time,
Stay safe
Liz and Mark.
